First of all, I should mention that I'm a huge Nordstrand fan. I have built several passive basses with Nordstrand pups, but never anything active. I bought a couple of Ibanez basses that had Nord pups, but an Ibanez 3 band preamp. They just didn't get the sound that I know Nordstrand should acheive. So I sold both of them and continued playing passive basses. It never made sense to me that those Ibanez basses were disappointing. I got to thinking that the preamp is the weak link in them. I ordered a brand new Ibanez and the 3 band Nord preamp at the same time. After playing the bass for a few minutes, I switched the pre for the Nord. HUGE difference. Carey Nordstrand has found the sweet spot for EQ centers. Each have boost and cut. At the center detent everything sounds great. Small changes either way really make it shine. This made my OK bass come alive. It's a whole new beast! Thanks Carey and the Fat Bass team.

The perfect pre-amp!

This preamp gives me the ability to have the most focus tone of any other preamp I have tried. Love it!

Exceeded my expectations

I’ve always wanted to install Nordstrand preamp in my bass. I kept the stock pickups & added this jawn. I just wanna say the tone is amazing and that’s before you dial in the tone knob & boost the mids. When you add those two, you get that bite with clarity & growl. Best modification choice.
