Gluten-Free Pecan Pie

Fabulous pecan pie

I only got a tiny slice of this pecan pie because my daughter and husband were so enthusiastic about it. They practically split it between them. Terrific filling and crust -- so rich and satisfying. No need to add that the fact that it's gluten free is wonderful, but you would never know this delightful pie wasn't crafted in your grandmother's kitchen in the 1950s. No difference in the flavor and texture from a traditional pecan pie.

Not so impressed

I got around to thawing this pie tonight for a family gathering. After it sat out for about 3 hours, we found that the crust was completely stuck to the pan, and the pie absolutely lacked any structure. So much so that we resorted to just scooping everything out with a spoon. I was not impressed this time around. I am unsure if it was just the batch of pies I ordered this time around, if it was specifically the recipe for the two pies that I ordered, or if I happened to order during a busy time so the quality was lacking. I've ordered other pies and remember being very impressed, but this time was not the same. I do love that the pies are made fresh then essentially packaged and frozen the same day. However, the quality was just not there for me this time.

What do you mean it's gluten free!

I eat a mostly gluten free diet in solidarity to my wife, most substitutes are mediocre at best but The Maine Pecan Pie was just amazing. No sacrifices to flavor or texture here, just delicious pie that capped off a perfect Thanksgiving dinner, thank you Maine Pie Company!
