Very sturdy, missing a longer handle

I got this shovel to keep in my truck, and I was immediately impressed with the sturdiness of the folding mechanism, which is in contrast to many other folding shovels on the market. I used it a bit here and there, and decided the one strike against it was the short handle, but with the screws securing the handle in the socket, that was an easy fix with just a trip to a local hardware store. I put a longer handle on it, and even used it as my hand tool during a prescribed fire recently and I was really impressed with it. Plenty of weight for cutting into the dirt, the head is sturdy in all positions, and the larger blade worked well for pushing and pulling the ashes when stirring a pile during mop-up. Overall, I am impressed and may end up with another couple of these.

Too pretty

Previous reviewers were correct. Too pretty to actually use. Hang it over your fireplace and enjoy the view.

Great quality shovel. The cover is very nice also. You don’t see such nice shovels anywhere anymore, this is such a great find!
