The new shock cord, after its installation and tension setting ( it was in place and used to strap the topper's top in place for a couple weeks ), had stretched out so much that is literally hung loose at several hook areas. I am going to tighten it again, shorten it, and trust this is all that is needed. The old cord, after 20+ years of use, is still is VERY elastic and is appropriately snug when hooked under the beds. One end had simply frayed and broken free after 20+ years so I decided to just replace the cord of both ends. Not sure this was the best move.... Hope my shortening does the trick and it's not the cord's overall elasticity. All of the other reviews are so good, I'm crossing my fingers.
