Incredibly bright, lower than full power usually suffices. Took it on a weeklong kayak trip and it lasted all through with half power left.

This is my second Biolite. These are the best bedside lights ever. Great for making your way to the bathroom without turning a bright light on; also, useful for when the power goes out. The multicolor settings are very cool, but mostly, I just keep it set on warm candle light- the charge lasts forever on that setting. These lights are fabulous.
