Good containers, long-life

I purchased 2 of these containers about 6 years ago, and I finally ordered 2 more so that I don’t have to empty the finished bokashi quite so frequently. I strongly recommend users buying the black version (specifically the black lid) if you have any plans to use it outdoors. My original purchase included a tan container with a green lid, as well as a black/black bucket + lid. The green lid lasted for about 5 years but developed cracks due to UV light exposure, while the black lid is still completely functional. Both buckets are in great shape, but I expect that the tan bucket will have a shorter lifespan than the black one. Regarding construction: I'd prefer having a lower bucket floor for greater capacity, even at the expense of a lower spigot. For draining the leachate, I lift the bucket up to a ledge and the additional vertical clearance doesn't help me. It seems like this item targets indoor (e.g., under-kitchen-sink) use, where the addition clearance is probably important, but it doesn't really suit my needs as well as it could.

Thought when buying would get bag of starter mix. That is mentioned with product. Not clear. Can I buy that stuff at a store? Don’t want to pay a shipping fee for the bags. Would have bought them with the containers if I knew it wasn’t included.

Perfect solution

This works without odor. Bought a second one to maximize composting time because I live in Florida with a small yard. Perfect solution in a state that still throws food waste in the trash. Highly recommend.
