One of my favorite lures
This past summer I watched a Cicada fall into a pond and buzz around, splashing and spinning in circles and causing quite a commotion before a fish rose and snapped it up forcefully. I started trying to find something that would imitate that. The Rebel Bumble Bug in June Bug pattern was pretty much the exact same size shape and color as that cicada. What’s more, by letting the lure land and sit for a few seconds, and then just twitching it on topwater, its action is very similar to how that cicada acted. I have caught a ton of panfish and bass on this (I did have to upsize the hooks to land more bass though, I used size 10 trebles.) I’ve watched large fish follow it and got my biggest bluegill of the year on it. Make sure to bring pliers or forceps with you - those little hooks on a small lure can be gnarly when dealing with flopping fish.

My favorite lure!
I just love Rebel’s Bumblebugs! I started with the Bumblebee because it was the only one I could find. All the other colors were always sold out. And still it was magic! I have caught Bluegill, Red-eared sunfish, Chain Pickerel, Largemouth Bass, Yellow Perch, Wild Golden Shiner, and Crappie! It never fails to help me catch fish. Then thanks to Discount Tackle I was able to finally get another color. When the Rebel FireBugs came in the mail I had to immediately go out on the lake in my kayak (even though there were small whitecaps and windy and rainy). Within 5 min I caught a nice largemouth Bass while trolling in the MIDDLE OF THE LAKE. (I was not expecting to catch bass there) My smile couldn’t have been bigger! My secret to trolling with these bugs is to keep the rod in my hand (I have a mirage foot pedal drive) and a finger on the line to feel for the hit. Then I Pedal slowly and pull the rod forward in fits and starts and then suddenly drop my arm back toward the rear of the kayak. This causes the bug to vibrate as i move my arm forward, causing the bug to dive down about about 2 feet and then when I drop my arm back the bug suddenly stops moving and starts to rise to the surface. I swear the fish is chasing it and when it suddenly stops, the fish runs into it! LOL. In any case EVERY TIME the bite happens when the bug stops! I also catch the Perch around rocks by casting. But I try to mimic what I’m doing while trolling and they just can’t resist. LOVE,LOVE,LOVE these lures! I SO want to get ALL the colors! Rebel needs to make other insects like spiders and millipedes etc. I would by them!
