These compact lights work quite well in low-light conditions and give plenty of red light that does not spoil your night vision. The motion sensor works well, but only in low-light conditions, which is exactly when you need it to work.

Accomplishes what I wanted, low light red-light, motion activated. the off/on/auto switch is good to have. minor; magnet is very low strength, the light is easily moved with a slight bump.
