RAT BAG V4 MINI True Black Professional

Great build quality and thoughtful design — but choose your version carefully

I’m very pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the RAT BAG V4 MINI True Black. The materials feel solid and durable, and it’s surprisingly comfortable to wear. The packaging is neat and well thought out, from the protective pouch to the included rain cover — you can tell a lot of care went into it. Having previously owned a competitor model filled with polystyrene beads, I was intrigued to discover that this one uses foam instead. It’s actually great when carrying the bag over the shoulder, much more stable and compact. However, when it comes to placing a camera on top of it on the ground, the foam doesn’t hold the camera in place as well — so it’s not ideal for that specific use. I’d recommend thinking carefully about how you plan to use it — whether as a body-rig support or as a tripod substitute — since the filling makes a real difference (V3 vs V4). That said, I really love this brand and team: their sense of humor, communication style, and the overall seriousness of the product are spot on.
