The Babu wallet is a lovely, handmade item. Do you need one? Not really, does it offer anything that other wallets at a significantly lower price don't? No, it doesn't. The Climax and JOL are, as far as I know, the only other magic wallets that have internal flaps to carry a sealed envelope and a zippered compartment. They also make great EDC and, in the case of the Climax, have a good few magic options. As a gigging wallet (tables or strolling I would never use either the Babu JOL or the Climax; resetting takes time and is best not seen. When I work close up, there are only two wallets that shine. The How and Workers dream, but I would not use either as EDC, but the reset can be done in front of the spectator, and the wallet can be loaded while in your pocket. Also, the Rebel and Rebel Note are good gigging choices and reset instantly and make good EDC (but they don't have a zip lovely leather though)
But I really like the feel and look of the Babu. Do I need it? No, but it is lovely leather. It has carry space for notes, spare envelopes, packets, tricks, etc. The inner pouch I like (very similar to the Climax), but I use an envelope as it does thicken the wallet when inside. Do I need a Rolls-Royce to travel in? No, there are so many other ways to travel, but it's a nice vehicle. The Babu is a luxury Item you will love to carry. It's small, sophisticated, and practical; a pleasure to use, carry in a back pocket or inner jacket pocket, and loads easily.
