Tetsukabuto Winter Squash
I have been growing Teasukabuto from seed for many years. Pinetree is the only source that I know of. The squash texture is very smooth and not watery. It is ideal for many squash dishes and keeps till the following spring stored inside. The squash has very long vines so requires a lot of room. to grow. A couple of hills will provide as much squash as a family could eat.

Tetsukabuto: Excellent Winter Squash!
I never heard of or took notice of Tetsukabuto winter squash until I was reading through the Pinetree Garden Seeds catalog last year. I always try new vegetables in my garden each year and decided to try this squash. Wow, was I happy with the results! I followed the directions and planted Hubbard and Sweet Banana nearby. The vines were healthy and green all season and produced more squash then I ever would have expected. Having already enjoyed eating a few on my own this autumn, I baked 4 for Thanksgiving dinner and all my dinner guests were raving about this squash! I simply cut each squash in half, scooped out the seeds, placed it, cut side down, in a roasting pan filled with 2 cups of water (to prevent it from sticking to the bottom of the pan while baking) and baked it at 350F for 1.5 hours. I scooped the squash from the outer shell, mashed it with just a touch of brown sugar and salt and placed it in an oven safe serving dish. That's it! Better yet, I prepared it the day before Thanksgiving and just reheated it on the big day, saving me a bit of time and oven space! It was absolutely delicious! Looks like sweet potatoes have lost their spot on the Thanksgiving table! This squash is naturally sweet and tasty. I have already ordered and received my Tetsukabuto seeds from Pinetree again for the coming growing season. Thank you, Pinetree! The prices are very reasonable compared to other seed distributors and the customer service has been terrific!

LOVE These Squash!
All the positive reviews are right on! If I were to grow only one winter squash, it would be this one.
