Golden Ball Turnips
I was very pleased with purchasing from Pinetree! I have had no problems with germination. The Golden Ball Turnips have a sweet mild flavor and are a great addition to Mashed potatoes and sliced and added to Raman and oriental soups!

Golden Ball Turnips
Planted both Golden Ball and Royal Crown around 8/1/2022 during a drought in a mostly shady garden bed. They were planted along a soaker hose. Both had good germination but neither got enough sun to form good roots. Even at a small (1") size Golden Ball roots were hollow in the center while Royal Crown roots were solid.
I also planted both in a full sun bed under a row cover (for flea beetles). Watering was by hose. Golden Ball grew more slowly than Royal Crown. Most of the Golden Ball roots were hollow and one split open, making a home for dozens of pill bugs. I have a few Golden Ball roots in my root cellar. The one l cooked 3/1 was not hollow, but it was dry and woody in the center. Only the outside 1/2" was edible. Roasted both have excellent flavor.
I prefer the greens of Golden Ball, but for roots I will grow Royal Crown.
