Usually I don‘t like reading biographies. But Karen Powell took Emily Brontë as the first person narrator and I was hooked right from the beginning. Although we all know that the Brontë siblings‘ s story will have no happy ending, the novel is not gloomy at all but powerful and hopeful. Because these short lives lived intensely and in a way without compromise, leaves me with a feeling of content and not so much of sadness (although I shed some tears).

While I read the book, I lived with the Brontes. Vividly and movingly told it stays with you long after you have finished reading!
