A Time to Keep Silence

Absolutely loved this little book, which packed so much into so few pages. His deep respect for monasticism, his humor, and his love of history is delivered in his beautiful command of the English language. This book led me to reading up on him and ordering another of his titles. Fermor is a fascinating observer of humanity and history and supremely gifted in recounting his experiences. This was a book I definitely didn't want to end!

Beautifully written, and gave insight into three completely different monasteries. One of my favorite writers.
