Good when harvested young
I got this bean for my local community garden to plant, to try something other than the usual 'Kentucky Wonder', etc, pole beans. The germination was not as good as our standard, 'Fortex', and the beans had to be picked young for the best texture. The flavor is good. However, once they got past about 6 to 8 inches, they started to get tough. A good variety for diligent gardeners!

tasty and productive
I can't say enough good things about this bean. But first let me say that I have a very challenging garden in Bellevue WA, near tall trees such that my garden gets about 5 hours direct sun and runs 5-10 degrees cooler than other local weather. And the slugs! I had to replant! These pole beans bore as early as my early-variety bush beans. I have a tiny space so I have 8-10 plants crowded in a fairly small area, so I do fertilize and water. I have eaten beans and frozen beans and expect more to come. After being out of town for a week, I got beans that were 6+ inches long, about 3/8" diameter, forming beans but still with straight, juicy pods.
