I needed reassurance on how I might do ‘Candling’ before a fire and what I did was prop a stilt over my kiln lid button to prop it a little …then use a preheat cycle for a few hours just to insure dryness in my greenware. Then choose program for bisque firing. Orton Controllers got back to me soon about my Slide Controller and said not to worry. Everything is working fine. The manual seems very complicated but really, not…just very informative but fairly simple to operate!
