Attractive but engraving lacked contrast

Attractive and good value. Script engraving was good but narrow, showing a white subsurface that lacked contrast. A darker color might show up better. I tried a permanent black marker as a test on the bottom to see if I could fill in for more contrast but alcohol removed the painted finish. Water seems safe but I don't know if I want to risk using a different ink. Generally pleased with the purchase.
