Unexpected Awesome

I have the Custom 743. I purchased this pen to use with blue inks. I was amazed how comfortable this pen felt in my hand. So smooth too. It’s a medium nib but when using Octopus Blue Koi it was writing wider than with other inks….?..not sure why but still an awesome pen. The ink is a pigmented ink so maybe that’s what does it. I love the ink. Very shiny.

Beautiful, but very dry

I got the dark blue Custom 74 in Extra Fine recently. The pen is beautiful and feels lovely in my hand - however it is extremely dry and has much more feedback than I expected. It skips often and acts very ink-starved. I've had it for a week or two now; I flushed it with warm water and a touch of dish soap and thoroughly rinsed it before first inking as well as again after a week, which has not solved the issue. The pen is significantly drier, less consistent, and less smooth than my Custom Heritage 912 Posting nib, despite having a comparably fine point. I bought a second Custom 74 in the same order (a double broad in black) and that pen is absolutely wonderful - it shows none of the flow issues that I have in my Extra Fine.
