Robert Oster Summer Storm - 50ml Bottled Ink

Lovely color

Recently bought this to do ink washes. It produces some lovely shading. The blue is quite muted with pink undertones compared to many other blue inks. It also works well for writing. Smooth finish and flow.

I reviewed this ink earlier – another look

I loaned my bottle to an experienced friend to try. Her experience was much like mine. She found that if she wrote several pages she started getting a little more color, but that the ink was very dry. In my second go-round, I put the ink in a Lamy AL-Star, Azure (beautiful pen, by the way), with a cursive italic nib. Love the pen. Love the nib. The pen performed beautifully when filled with Herbin Bleu Nuit. The writing experience was markedly different with Summer Storm. The ink is so dry that the nib seems to drag across the paper. I think I'll try Diamine Lilac Night instead – every Diamine ink I have purchased has been a pleasure to use. Conclusion, unless someone can offer a suggestion for "fixing" this ink, I think it will end up in the trash (well, maybe I'll save the bottle).
