Have a care with your purchase of an iron gall ink. I haven’t looked at the Goulet site to see if there’s an advisory But after I purchased this ink I did the due diligence that should have preceded that purchase. I suggest careful research before buying. Iron gall inks. They can damage pens.

Not entirely what I expected
This was my first time trying what I thought was an Iron Gall ink but I recently learned that it is in fact not an Iron Gall ink. It has iron content in it, but not Iron Gall. I expected the color to shift once it was applied onto the page, but it didn't, it stayed the same color. The color wasn't very interesting, kind of a dull, boring low saturation purple. What I did like about it however is that it produced a truly thin line, which was perfect for my Japanese EF nibs. It's sometimes hard to find an ink that produces a thin line, but this is exactly what I wanted. So while the ink color itself isn't very interesting to me, I know I will definitely be using it.

Fascinating to use
This was my first iron gall ink, and I paired it with the Pilot Custom 74 from the same order--a match made in heaven. The ink goes down bright, then deepens as it oxidizes into an elegant, rich color that suits the pen perfectly.
