Amethyste de l’Oural is a beautiful color. It is my first shimmering ink (a newbie fountain pen enthusiast) and the sample was a great way to try it out. I bought a Sailor Tuzu in Translucent Violet when I ordered the sample because I was nervous about trying out a shimmering ink in one of my gold nib pens. They look lovely together and wrote beautifully. A bottle of Amethyte de l’Oural I ordered just arrived today. I expect to enjoy the ink in the Sailor Tuzu for a long time; they are well matched.

This is a great ink. It is the only shimmer ink I have used thus far that has a consistent shimmer while writing with a medium nib. All the others that I have tried, you get a large amount when you first start writing and then next to none after the first few words. Also the color is great darker shade of purple that shows a great deal of change from where it puddles up and where it doesn't which I think makes for a great ink with character. I only got the sample but I will be buying a bottle soon.

I’m brand new at using ink, so I’ve just been playing. So far, I love the color and the fact that when dry it keeps the line but still spreads the color when I add water
