Pretty weak and screw is very hard

I got this thinking my daughter would be able to replace the batteries herself during camp, but the battery compartment has one of those tiny little screws, and even if I send her with a tiny screw driver, I don’t think she’ll be able to get it in and out herself. Why wouldn’t they just have an easy battery removal? I ordered it from this site assuming everything was vetted for ease of kids use. Also it’s pretty weak.
