Great system Altered bracket to fit another trunk
The Wheel-Away system itself is fabulous. The wheels are much bigger and roll so much better than the tiny wheels other trunks have. Much easier on pavement, grass and uneven ground. Wheel-Away system wheels do not intrude on interior space or create an easy entry for moisture, bugs, etc., like other trunk wheels systems do. With easy to snap off wheels, there is nothing to project/stick out - or get ripped off by overachieving trunk handlers. With the wheels detached and placed in the provided bag - the bracket is practically invisible. I bought the Wheel-Away kit from ESC, knowing that I would have to cut/alter the bracket to fit the 40 year old solid wood trunk my daughter used for Camp Longhorn 40 years ago. - That way, the Wheel-Away bracket would fit that same "less deep" trunk my grandson would be now be using for his 1st term at Camp Longhorn - go Rattlesnakes. I ended up cutting almost the entire middle "hump" out of the bracket, and drilled a few more holes to add more screws to give plenty of support. I watched the ESC install video, which was very good. I also used slightly longer screws since my trunk's walls were slightly thicker. BUT, I found that a couple of the screw tips could be felt on the inside - potential for snagging, so I ground the tips off for a smooth feel. When we took the grandkid for his bus ride to camp, it was interesting to see that trunks with the Wheel-Away system were moved mostly by the campers themselves, while trunks without wheels required 2 men to move. Trunks with small wheels also did poorly, even on the nicely paved parking lot. I would say that the Wheel-Away kit is the only way to go for summer camp trunks. Sorry, no pictures.

I wish there was a way to latch the wheels on once attached

Glad I got the wheels for the trunk! My grandson loves them!
