In other hands, this symphony has had either more classical snap or sense of the epic, but this warm, energetic and musical performance is lovely in its own way. The Berliners play wonderfully and the sound is quite fine.

Kubelik was a genius who died in his 40s through a tragic drowning incident. This performance made me hear Schumann's second symphony as if I was hearing it for the first time. Glorious!
