Beethoven's symphonies 6 & 8

The last time I commented on the recording of 'La fille time Gardée' by Hérold Lanchbery with the Lanchbery Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. It was almost perfectly recorded (in 1962!) and was digitized in equal quality by HDTT. Now, the here commented music of 'Beethoven's symphonies 6 & 8' (Eduardo Chibás conducts the Venezuela Symphony Orchestra) is also a very good recording and was presented only a short time ago and directly digitally recorded with modern equipment. I would like to highlight the excellent interpretation of the Orchestra with its conductor. Also the sound and the spatial representation of the Orchestra stage are of very good quality. Though, the overall impression I got from listening to this recording, appears somewhat sterile. This isn't however a result of the interpretation and the playful skill of the Orchestra. It rather seems to be located on the used equipment, so I believe that it couldn't follow entirely the quality of the performance. I am therefore coming back again to my comment on 'La fille mal gardée' because there the impression of sterility does not occur even for one second, while the music and the spatial dimension is completely rendered naturally. What I hereby wanted to say is that a new recording does not necessarily must be better than an older one. Nevertheless, my résumé to Beethoven's Symphonies 6 & 8: It is a good recording, played by a very good orchestra, which I despite their small weakness like to listen to, and it is - if you like Beethoven's symphonies - worth buying anyway.
