Monta Noble 40, Black Dial

Likes and Dislikes

This is my first microbrand watch which means this is my first Monta watch so I'm going to be as honest as possible. My likes about the watch are the simplistic design, case dimensions, finishing, enamel color on the dial and the bracelet. My dislikes or where I think things could improve/what I would've done differently is the branding on the dail I feel like is too plain and needs to be applied rather than printed in white and the clasp definitely needs more chamfering on the edges. I hope this will be taken in consideration when the Monta team designs their next watch.

Falls short in quality

I’m use to Monta really paying attention to the details on their watches, but I have to say they fall short on this one. First, the watch came in a much less impressive display box. It was nice, but when I’ve received past watches in a larger wood lacquered box this one falls way short. So, my new watch experience already started off rough. Then, as I began examining the watch I’ve noticed many sharp corners. I don’t feel all my other Monta watches have these sharp edges. The Noble 40 has sharp corners on the inside lug corners, the corners of the safety clasp and even on the clasp itself. It does wear nice and I don’t feel the sharp edges when I wear it. I am concerned that the sharp edges on the clasp could cause damage to surfaces that my arm rests on, such as a leather sofa. Maybe they had to cut back on some of the details to keep prices stable, but I think I’d rather pay a little more and have a better finished product.

I just got my Noble 40 from the pre-order. Its fantastic. Its light, thin, and comfortable, but at the same time it feels robust enough to wear all the time. The mix between brushed and polished surfaces in the case give it great contrast and texture. It feels like it can be dressed up or down. I've been searching for a quality watch with similar design features to the Noble, but it seems like everyone is making watches in the 39 or 38mm range. Thank you and the Monta team for making a slightly bigger watch. Those smaller watches just don't look right on my wrist.
