When my handy man opened the box he laughed and said it's plastic. This is the first ceiling fan I have seen that is plastic. I asked him if that was bad and should I send it back. He said no what I'm concerned about is the ceiling mount tray being plastic. You have to be very careful when you tighten it to the ceiling brace so that you don't crack it. He put it up and it did not crack. The other problem was the canopy; it was so small that he had to put some of the wiring up behind the ceiling mounted tray. But it all worked out. I am satisfied the with lighting, the speed of the fan and the overall working of the fan it self so far. It has only been 1 day since the fan was installed. I hope it will last for a long time. I do Like the fan and lighting and yes it is very quiet (Which was one of the things I was looking for)
