If you’re the kind of person who pretends you can taste “notes of stone fruit and existential clarity,” this might actually live up to your standards.
The Dos Ríos roast from Botero Coffee is impressively balanced without being boring. It leans into a smooth, medium body with just enough brightness to keep things interesting, but never crosses into that overly acidic territory that makes you question your life choices halfway through a cup. There’s a subtle sweetness that comes through cleanly, with light citrus and a hint of cocoa rounding it out.
What stands out most is how forgiving it is. Whether you’re dialing in a pour-over like a precision instrument or half-asleep and dumping grounds into a drip machine, it still delivers a consistent, satisfying cup.
Not flashy, not trying too hard, just a genuinely well-executed roast that makes your morning slightly more tolerable. Which, frankly, is all most of us are asking for.

I really enjoyed this coffee. You can tell a lot of care goes into how it’s grown and processed. It has a rich, creamy body and a smooth medium-dark roast that’s easy to drink any time of day. The dark chocolate and molasses notes stand out right away, with a subtle orange brightness that keeps it interesting, and the smoky finish lingers in a good way without being overpowering. It’s well balanced, not too acidic, and feels thoughtfully crafted. Definitely one I’d buy again and keep in my regular rotation.
