Fine, but no replacement for my Sensaphonics

First off, I clearly care a lot about my earplugs and am very pedantic about their performance, given that I have a custom molded set. I am sensitive to noise and find being in loud environments exhausting. I really wanted to love these - I was hoping that this would be an acceptable alternative to a custom set. I came to the conclusion that they are not: Pros: I really appreciate the ability to change filters/attenuation in a standard plug design that doesn’t need to be fitted to my ear! And the filters are very easy to change out The case for them is very convenient! Cons: They are not comfortable- they make my ears ache to wear them, the foam ones are more comfortable. They seem to under attenuate at low frequencies compared to other sets (including foam ones), and for mid frequencies they over-amplify my own internal “noises” (like my footsteps, clothes rustling - basically it seems to amplify my own vibrations) Taking these out at the end of the day is a HUGE relief (I always think taking earplugs out is a relief: it’s so nice to get the pressure out of my ear and hear those pleasant subtle sounds like leaves rustling, but these were even more of a relief to remove). The benefits of wearing theses don’t outweigh the extra mental pressure of how they change the sound scape and feeling wearing them.
