Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy
I was shocked at the ease of the entire process of buying this mattress. I originally intended to keep the whole experience online and had done a fair amount of scrolling, always a little unsure about my final check out. So, I found myself in the neighborhood one day and figured I might as well stop in and give the mattress a real try, considering the significance of the purchase. You know- the good old fashioned way.
I walked in, tried ‘em all out, made a purchase, and had a delivery lined up in maybe an hour. Going in actually made a difference to my choice, opting for extra firm to my original firm choice, and I ended up grabbing some discounted high quality eco pillows as well that I don’t know I would have noticed online. I was able to get a couple other small, but meaningful, discounts that I wouldn’t have known about either. Everything in person just went so smoothly. Everyone I worked with, from the sales person to the delivery people, were such darling sweethearts. They told me they make a living wage so they don’t rely on commission, which definitely transformed the entire vibe. My experience at Stumptown was night-and-day compared with shopping at other mattress retailers who use a lot of high stakes, high pressure sales tactics to saddle up your bill with whatever they can manage. In the end, I will probably be returning to Stumptown when I need another mattress.
As for the mattress itself, I got the extra-firm a couple months ago, now, and it’s sleeping just as well as it did the first week. No indentations, no stress, no problems. And for everyone who warned me about extra-firm: eat your hat. This mattress has me asleep for so much of the night. I was sore for maybe a day before I acclimated to the firmness. I sometimes wake up in the morning with a sore ear because I’m not rolling around in the slightest from sleeping to waking. I cannot recommend the Stumptown line enough.
So, long story short, I have to recommend this in-person purchase of local made quality. Good product and great people will make your new mattress purchase a complete dream!
