Excellent starter set. The rocket was fun and easy to build, the rocket engines were powerful and the rocket worked flawlessly.

Pretty fun! But you do need a few more things to launch...
First of all, the kit DOES NOT include everything you need to launch. At a minimum plastic cement and sand paper, maybe some sharpies too if you want to decorate the parachute. Also you will need 4 AA batteries and a medium-small Phillips head screwdriver. The instructions weren't totally clear, but generally manageable with a young person with supervision. Our parachute got burnt and a cord came loose on the second launch, so maybe some more wadding beyond the 5-6 pieces which are recommended. Seems like we should be able to re-attach it with superglue. I would also recommend some additional wadding and rockets if you'd like more than two launches (I purchased Recovery Wadding and C6-3 Engines from Estes). Heads up, the starters can be a bit finnicky (I think they need to touch at the very end, but not before then) - I believe this is why the kit has 4 starters for 2 rockets. If one doesn't launch, just pull out the plug with a coin or flat-head screw driver and adjust it or try a new one! Overall very fun! My 7 year-old niece loved it.

Almost perfect
The good: Bought this for my daughter to assemble together. Was great and easy for a 5 year old with adult supervision. Especially the colorable parachute. The launch pad was easy to assemble. Rocket flew perfectly on ascent. The bad: the rocket body comes with a preinstalled shock cord. I gave it a tug and it seemed fine. When we launched the rocket, the parachute was ejected as expected, but the shock cord ripped out of the body. With so little weight on the nose cone, the parachute drifted forever and eventually landed in the trees. So check your shock cord and don’t trust the install!
