Black Bear Is Still Live.

For the next couple of weeks, you can play the Pro Tour Black Bear layout alongside Otter!

The Porcupine isn’t quite ready to open yet, but anchors are going into the ground as we speak. We’ll make an announcement as we get closer to transitioning out of Black Bear and into the next phase.

If you haven’t gotten a chance to play Black Bear yet, now’s your chance. Come experience the layout while it’s still in the ground!

The new Black Bear layout is officially in the ground and open for public play!

Grab your day pass and come experience the newest version of one of the country’s premier disc golf destinations while supporting The Preserve.

Now available:
• Black Bear
• Otter
• Porcupine

For the first time ever, we’ve got alternate public layouts available alongside Black Bear. It’s a huge step forward for the Preserve, giving players more options than ever before.

While Black Bear is built to challenge the best in the game, Otter and Porcupine provide fun, approachable experiences for players who may not be ready to tackle the demands of a championship-level course. Whether you’re visiting for the first time or coming back to sharpen your game, there’s now a course for every skill level.

Come see what’s new and experience the biggest evolution of The Preserve yet.

A Few Additional Ways to Support The Preserve
We’ve gotten a lot of great questions lately from folks asking if there are ways to support The Preserve beyond coming out to play, paying for a round, or grabbing a membership — so we wanted to put together a quick answer for everyone at once.

Short answer: yes, and we really appreciate you even asking. Here’s where things stand right now.

Benches Are Going In

One of the most visible recent additions has been new benches throughout the property, including custom builds from Woodies Custom Woodworking. If you’ve noticed them going up, that’s part of an ongoing effort to give players and spectators more spots to rest and enjoy the course. More are on the way.

We’re Working Toward Year-Round Camping

This is probably our biggest long-term project right now. Camping is currently only allowed in connection with specific events, and we’re actively working on the permits and approvals to make it a permanent, year-round option. That’s a bigger lift than it sounds — it means eventually building out things like:

Permanent campsites
Bathrooms and showers
Fresh water access
Electrical and sanitation infrastructure
Roads and access improvements
It’s a long game, but we’re moving on it.

Other Ongoing Work

Between grounds maintenance, new teepads, layout updates, and pin placement variety, there’s always something in progress to keep the course in good shape and interesting to play.

If You’d Like to Help

For those who’ve specifically asked about contributing beyond playing, you can support these projects directly here: https://mnpreserve.com/products/preserve-the-future

Anyone who donates $50 or more gets some Preserve merch as a thank-you. But honestly, spreading the word, volunteering time, or just showing up and enjoying the course helps just as much.

Thanks for caring enough about this place to ask in the first place.

Dear Minnesota Disc Golf Community,

We have been struggling with the issue of players not paying to play the Preserve for a while now, but it seems to be getting worse this season. We’re out here every day working tirelessly on these 160 acres to make all of these courses enjoyable for you. It’s hard to fathom how much effort and financial resources it takes to make this happen. But it’s becoming too much.

This place was built to be a sanctuary for disc golfers who want to throw in the most beautiful of river settings. However, too many people have been taking advantage of us, and we’re unsure on how to proceed. We don’t want to give up, but cannot continue to operate like this if people show up for the experience, but are not willing to pay the day pass for it.

Beyond unpaid rounds, we’ve also been actively dealing with multiple attempts to steal installed baskets & discs from the property.

Starting today 7/23/2026, the day pass will be $15. We don’t take this decision lightly, but with rising costs and ongoing issues of non-payment, it’s necessary to keep the preserve running.

So this is a call to all of you, please, if you love the Preserve like we do, come and support us. Or we may not be here next year.

Last night, after confronting someone who didn’t pay, our worker was threatened to be beaten up and the police had to be called. That individual has since been banned from the property and removed from the volunteer list for this year’s preserve doubles event.

Please, understand how important it is to the life of the Preserve, that if you come out here, pay your daily pass or get a season pass to support this place.

Thank you.
