Fantastic expansion. Adds more depth and mechanics. This can lengthen games for less experienced players, but everyone else will enjoy the challenge. Variants of classic heroes enables more combos and playstyles.
While the theme is looser than Rook City, the villians are (imo) way more interesting. It's a must buy for SotM fans.

This is the most thematic Superhero card game on the market. I wish it had a campaign mode, but the amount of content in this game is still amazing. Heroes are very well thought out & interact w/ each other & villains in very unique ways, especially when they’re bound by the rich lore that the 2 main developers of this game have intricately weaved together in their podcasts. The artwork is incredibly thematic to a superhero themed game, using art styles from across many eras in comics to reflect the different eras that the developers spanned throughout the history of their creatively made-up comic book universe. This game nailed it better than Marvel Champions as you get a full deck of 40 cards based on your hero, not just 15. The idea of “I need to have Spiderman or Wolverine holding a gun or a bulletproof vest because the aspect card optimizes his deck” is an annoying part of MC that this game doesn’t do. If u havent given this a try; and u love the superhero genre, u really should.
