Good gloves with "Mexican" quirks

Quirks I'm referring to are the rough inner lining and weight. The lining is much rougher than my R2C Japanese style Winning clones. Feels like molded foam with shallow wrinkles covered with canvas. I'd read other reviews of people complaining about it, but was happy to find it doesn't bother me at all. On my scale that is accurate to .5 Oz, they both weighed in at 20 Oz. This is for a 16 Oz glove. I was expecting this, and it doesn't bother me. Feels so good punching with these gloves, the quirks just don't bother me. The shape really does seem to encourage good punching. They make a really satisfying THWAK sound on the bag. I wouldn't use them for sparring. Maybe over time they'll soften up, but they're a bit stiff out of the box. Overall a very solid looking/feeling glove.

This is my first time trying out GIL boxing gloves and I must say that I'm quite impressed with the value you get for the money. Quality (real) leather and piping; good stitching; simple, classic, design that never goes out of style; good shape, fit, and thumb position; nice, wide, laces...a perfect all around training glove. Amazing gloves

Amazing leather and hand compartment snug and comfortable, not oversized like other Mexican brands. Overweight by 2.5 oz but that was expected. Highly recommend Gil gloves.
