Parking my car in my driveway again.

After thieves cut out my catalytic converter from my 2008 Prius while it was sitting in my driveway, insurance restored the car to factory conditions, but I was afraid the thieves would come back, so I parked it behind my privacy fence in my back yard. My mechanic said the Miller Cat shield I ordered was an improvement over the old one and should be better at deterring thieves. It's in my driveway again.

Winning the War on Crime

I committed the classic blunder. I lost my protected off-street garage parking in L.A. without immediately installing a Catalytic Converter shield. Night 2 street parking the cat on my 2009 Prius was stolen. The repair/replacement was $5,500. Never again. I researched & landed on the internet's opinion that Miller Cat Shield is the best. I went for the full Monty: stainless steel with the deadbolt. The quality of the product which quickly arrived did not disappoint. I used a recommended installer (Dave Frost in Culver City) and it went off without a hitch. The look of the shield resembles a Horseshoe Crab. Will the Cat Shield last 300 million years like the Horseshoe Crab? I dunno. But I am confident I have supreme catalytic converter protection is an untamed world.

How can you tell?

My mechanic installed the shield. The question as far as rating is, how do you know how if it’s actually preventing theft? I’m happy with the product but I had my Prius for 20 years before a theft occurred. I’m assuming the shield will act as a deterrent.
