Folding Boat Ladder 3-Step

Needed a replacement set of folding or telescoping steps for my boat. Come across these doing a search and the price seemed good so I ordered them. They arrived quickly and well packaged. I am very impressed with the overall quality and design. The finish is a smooth stainless steel. The steps are easy to install and fit my boat perfectly.

I've owned several folding boat ladders, and most had the same problems: they were too short, flexed under weight, folded too far beneath the boat, or used materials that required extra maintenance. This ladder avoids all of those issues. It comes fully assembled, feels solid, and the stainless-steel construction gives me much more confidence than the aluminum ladders I’ve used before. At approximately 35 inches when fully extended, it reaches far enough into the water that I can climb aboard without relying entirely on upper-body strength. The flat, non-slip steps are much more comfortable than narrow round rungs, and the upper step also provides a useful handhold. The attached ball bungee keeps the ladder securely retracted when it is not in use. Mine measures about 11.5 inches wide, 15 inches when folded, and 35 inches when extended. Just make sure your mounting area is deep enough for the ladder to unfold to roughly 90 degrees. Overall, this is a thoughtfully designed, sturdy ladder and an excellent value for the price.

Although this is sold as a boat swim ladder, I installed it on my dock to help kayakers and canoeists get out of the water. Before adding it, beginners often reached the ramp but had nowhere secure to place their feet, making it awkward to climb onto the dock. This ladder solved that problem immediately. Installation took about ten minutes using the included stainless-steel hardware. When not in use, it folds flat against the dock and stays secured with the tethered retaining clip, so there is no loose pin to drop into the water. When needed, it flips down easily and the three telescoping steps extend far enough below the surface for a comfortable climb. The step spacing and non-slip treads feel secure, even for younger paddlers. The stainless-steel construction feels solid, and the telescoping mechanism operates smoothly. My only concern is that the elastic retaining cord may eventually need replacing after extended sun and water exposure. Long-term corrosion resistance in brackish water remains to be seen, but so far this has been a sturdy, well-designed ladder and a very useful addition to the dock.
