Missing a frame

I am glad I was able to get a nuc so late in the year, but I expected the nuc to have 5 frames. There were only 4 frames in the box and the bees had filled the empty space with comb, so my hive didn’t get the the fast start I hoped for

That escalated quickly

Hey! Thank you for a great purchase. I wanted to start small and get one hive but the HOI bee class convinced me 2 was a better bet to make it to year 2 with at least one hive. So I purchased 2 nucs. Both nucs seemed big, but one nuc was bursting with bees. Installed both into new hives. The BIG nuc swarmed 2 days later. Happenstance or luck to see it just before leaving for work. Ran out and scooped up the cluster and started another hive. The next day, found a swarm in Campustown landscaping. Scooped it up and now I have 4 hives with queens and good activity. Plus, experience catching 2 swarms. This is a really fun hobby! Thanks for the great start!
