Classic Brass Interior Mortise Lock With Thumbturn Hole

This is actually higher quality than the 101-year old mortise lock that it replaced. The brass end piece on the door across from the striker plate is massive. Although I had to move my knob escutcheons over slightly to compensate. Also had to shift my existing striker plate up 1/8” inch. One problem that I did have was that my existing thumb turn would not insert fully (see photo). I had ordered an emergency opening for the outside and that shaft fit fine. So, the tolerance on this lock is tighter than the original. Tried filing the original thumb turn shaft down. But, gave up and ordered a new one. I would suggest ordering the kit that includes the thumb turn and striker plate or ordering the thumb turn separately to avoid a second shipping cost.
