FB132H 13" 2-Speed Thickness Planer with Helical Cutterhead
I was hoping that this planer was more powerful than my current Dewalt DW733, even though both of them are specified as 1800W. Though I find that my Dewalt can handle bigger “bites” (deeper cuts) than the FB132H (240 volt edt).
But then, when using the FB132H with less cut depth, it really gives better and cleaner results than my Dewalt DW733. Just as a side note, I did buy and installed the Helical cutterhead within my DW733, which was a super nice upgrade.
Anyhow, I find that as for rough planing the DW733 are more powerful, but as clean plaining the FB132H are giving me better results.
Also as a side note, I have only used the FB132H when I was planing walnut and a small piece of oak. Funny enough, the oak was easier to bite off deeper cuts without any issue, with the walnut planks the electronic circuit breaker tripped a few times when I was trying to cut too deep.
As for stability, the FB132H are as I expected when I ordered the planer, it is a big boost from the struggling I always have had with my DW733. This is due to the rolls both from the in feed and out feed are way better positioned on the FB132H than the DW733.
Another thing as well, the FB132H can handle way thinner material than the DW733, which a big boost for me as well, since I cant really argue with my self to buy a drum-sander, can’t really fit more equipment in my garage, where I have my studio.
Was the buy worth it for me as a hobbyist furniture maker, I would absolutely say yes. If you can spare the money, go ahead. And I am absolutely sure I will use my FB132H way more than my “old” DW733 in the future.

Great tabletop planer for small wood workers!
I’ve been more than happy with this planer, use it all the time in my shop. It has saved so much sanding and has made my small DIY projects go so much faster. I don’t mill rough lumber, so no clue how well it’d work for that, but for cutting boards and other small projects it works great.
