XTEINK X4 Pro Pocket eReader

CONTRAS: 1.

This device was a pleasant surprise, I did not expect it to be this good Sleek and elegant design, magnetically attaches to a lot of things (including the optional case). It is also quite snappy, many times even more snappy than my Kobo Forma (an e-reader with much more powerful hardware). That said, it is built around a microcontroller and that comes with some limitations, even if the microcontroller in questions is quite powerful. If you expect to use it for any technical reading, think again. I tried to open a book that teaches the Go programming language and it can't even render the code blocks correctly, it just inlines everything in a single paragraph (this is with the 3rd party Crossink firmware, which is supposed to improve ePub rendering over the stock firmware). Some tools exist to circumvent these limitations, but they are not that great either. In short: perfect for literature, look elsewhere if you plan to read technical books. I would still get one without reservations, it is excellent for the price.

It did not perform as marketed, so I initiated a return via the manufacturer's support email--the web-based return link never worked. I contacted the seller. What transpired was a series of requests for order information and photos of the device and everything that was shipped with it. All requests were complied with. another superfluous request was made-outrageous since an unboxed photo of the X4 Pro contents was sent early on. I advise against trying to return a device through this company.
