Yamaha YSS-82ZRS with Runyon7
I’m using this Runyon 7 mouthpiece on a Yamaha YSS-82ZRS soprano saxophone, with D’Addario Select Jazz Unfiled 2H reeds. Overall, the sound has a Dave Koz-like flavor, which I really enjoy. However, since the YSS-82ZRS is a straight soprano saxophone, the tone naturally comes out a bit more direct and less mellow. That characteristic can’t really be changed, so it won’t sound exactly like Koz’s C.G. Conn setup.
That said, the playability and control of this mouthpiece are excellent. In fact, I feel it performs even better than the Selmer Soloist Metal mouthpiece I currently own.

Very well balanced mouthpiece, notes are well pronounced throughout the entire instrument. A very comfortable piece. A little bright, but not too bright.

Amazing sounding mouthpiece, great tone and projection without being too bright. Works beautifully on my 1925 Conn New Wonder curved soprano
