G Screen for Gen 3 Dual Battery Systems

I bought the G Screen to go with my Genesis Gen 3 dual battery kit, which I’m very happy with. This accessory is a different story. The install video shows the G Screen in the overhead panel but never shows how the module box actually gets fitted up there. It says “this part’s tough,” cuts away to the battery, and then the install is done. After cutting, finessing and cutting some more, my panel still won’t sit right. When I get the top to close, the piece by the mirror pops out. When I keep the mirror piece in, there’s a bulge and some clips won’t engage. I wouldn’t recommend the overhead location; it’s a gamble. I’m going to look for another spot for the unit. Now I have to spend $300-$400 on a new overhead panel to replace the one with a square hole cut in it and a lot of bracing removed for nothing. That’s a real hassle and a hit to the wallet. The real problem is the design of the device itself. It needs a module box right next to the screen, connected by a ribbon cable, and a ribbon cable doesn’t belong in a spot like this. The recommended layout even has you twist the ribbon cable to plug it into both pieces. That’s a big miss. This should be one round cable running to the G Screen, period.

The available install vids helped tremendously. The cable install was pretty straight forward, the screen was a serious PITA, and space available for the module is really tight causing the plastic to bulge a bit (wife wasn’t happy). Connection and usage were easy and intuitive. Overall a great product.

It works well and looks good, although it required cutting through the car dash, it would be better if it came with the option to just stick it onto the car’s dash or has parts that allows it to be compatible with the car’s dash system
