Amazing outer layer for cold winter adventures
My favorite winter outer layer in Interior Alaska! They run a bit larger than the regular Freyah, but that works great for layering. I wasn't sure these would be up to the challenge of Fairbanks, AK winters (temps consistently in the negatives), but these have kept me cozy on -20F fatbike rides, XC skis, and snowshoe tromps. For rides, I wear a chammy short like the Eleanor, silkweight and a midweight merino base layers, and the Freyah on top, and it's perfectly warm without limiting range of motion. I like that the high waist keeps my midsection covered when I bend down to drop air from my tires or adjust ski boots (no pesky drafts)! I find myself reaching for these when I would ordinarily wear softshell bibs. They offer great wind and snow resistance, they're durable when breaking trail through brush... My only complaint (about this and all the Freyahs) is that the waist is too big. The belt loops help some, but I wish WR would add some velcro tab adjusters for those of us whose athletic thighs and booties prohibit us from sizing down.

Wish the warmth was a bit more, but great addition to my cold weather active/work wardrobe!
I'm glad I went with a size 6 so I have extra room for layering underneath (I'm about 5'5", athletic build, 140lbs, 31" waist, 38" hips). The pants are not as warm as I thought they would be, but I do love the slim fit lower leg, the pockets, the move/stretch and the functionality. All around seemingly great quality, and the windproof softshell aspect certainly is good for an outer winter/fall cold layer.
