Cherry Bakewell Shortbread

Cherry Bakewell is one of those flavours that’s easy to get wrong, but Sawley’s has got the balance just right. From the first bite, you get that unmistakable combination of sweet cherry, rich almond and buttery shortbread that instantly brings to mind the classic British tart. The texture is beautifully crumbly, and the flavour lingers long enough to make you reach for another before you’ve quite finished the first. It’s indulgent without being overpowering. As an ex First Class cabin crew member, I’ve enjoyed plenty of elegant afternoon teas at 35,000 feet, and these would have fitted in perfectly. If every journey ended with one of these, passengers would be hoping for a delay rather than an early landing!

Lovely buttery smell when opening the packet, but could not taste anything that would say cherry bakewell to me, again like the toffe one, this one fell apart when trying to eat it and there was more crumbs than biscuit
