The next level of revealing the Faulfenza as they are - wise and imperfect all at once. Blends the Zafil history and culture into the more complicated universe of the Alliance-Chatcaava-Eldritch, and the great challenge they all face. Both daunting and encouraging. A great read.

It is both the beginning of a final war - against wholly terrifying forces - and the culmination of a story that has had its share of doubt, confusion and heartbreak - but with the shadings of triumph and victory to come, just on the other side of a shadowed valley... All of which is an artistic way of saying I really enjoyed this book, and like all of the books in Ms. Hogarth's Fallowtide world/universe/time, it's a massive undertaking, and a multilevel adventure which has small moments and big ones, both of which feed the soul. I'll save it aside to reread it in the fullness of time.
