I do not recommend. My son is 3.5 and weighs 38lbs, we ordered large and they are too tight around the legs, I don't believe for a second these would fit a 55lb child. They also immediately leaked. His first void in them and it soaked right through. These are no better than what I could've gotten at Walmart or Amazon for a fraction of the cost
