Dishcloth or sponge?

Got this as a gift for a friend. It is described as a dishcloth, but came as a very flat square looking like a strange cracker. The image was nice, but no packaging or description. Was it supposed to be soaked in water to puff it up? No instructions. How could I give this as a gift?!?! My friend was very understanding and said soaking it in water made it more like a dishrag to wash dishes. I was expecting more like a tea towel-so that may be on me for not understanding what I was purchasing. Shipping was quick and the seller sent many updates on shipping status. So the company is good, but it would have been nice to have better descriptions.
