Nahvalur Eclipse Emerald Fountain Pen

Incredibly uncomfortable pen. Bought this as a graduation gift for someone and she gave it back to me. The metal is so sharp and flares out. I’ve purchased other pens from this company and couldn’t believe how awful this was to even hold. The click to get the nib out is so fussy and only a little bit of the top shows. Can’t speak to how it write. She didn’t even get the opportunity to put ink in since the overall unboxing experience was rough.

Lovely pen, but the trapdoor gets latched on the nib tipping.

The nib is excellent, very juicy broad, and it reverse writes in EF. There is some angle sensitivity, giving thinner lines the higher you tilt the pen away from the page. The removable clip and the way the nib unit curves down to the centre of the pen body makes reverse writing feel like a natural, intended part of the pen. It is excellent. Seal is workable, noticeable ink darkening after a few days and especially on the first few letters written on any day, but no big issues with skipping. Tiny ink capacity means that you will need to refill the pen before it fully dries out. The biggest issue is that the trapdoor will latch onto the nib tipping and prevent it retracting all the way, making the pen dry out. You can't click to retract with your thumb on the end the way you can with other retractable pens, your thumb will dampen the action enough to get the nib tipping caught. You need to press the back in, hold for a moment, then slide your thumb off the back, letting it catapult back to the closed position. That is the only way to retract the pen with enough force to overcome the trapdoor latching onto the tipping. When freshly filled with ink, this will spray splotches of ink, but is otherwise clean. I am very satisfied otherwise.

The Nahvalur Eclipse with Broad nib is Amazing!

I have always liked the Eclipse. I have the Iridium in , and the Cobalt and Black in . I have really enjoyed them. BUT, the new Emerald with nib is outstanding! I love this pen. The color is beautiful and it lays down a ton of ink. It is exactly what I have been wishing for in an Eclipse. I love Nahvalur and I love the Eclipse... and the Nautilus, and the Original, and the Voyage... I LOVE Nahvalur!
