My Experience with the Rhino Exchange Service and 5/16-14 Pin Thread Testers

I wanted to confirm the pin thread on my existing break cue having learned that the 5/16-14 thread had three different minor variations (named standard, oversize, and "over oversize". The Rhino CSRs suggested I examine their 5/26-14 testers specifically intended to test this case. After a substantial count cycle of emails with each question/answer taking a complete day to wait (international time-zone difference perhaps?) I was ready to add the respective testers to my online cart. This is when I learned that the then current options only had standard and/or standard+oversize. The "over oversize" was an apparent custom tester which needed to be fabricated before they could ship it to me. Their recommended solution was to complete the payment using their Rhino Exchange Service. After completing this payment process ($30 for all three variations,) and waiting for the international shipping transit, the testers finally arrived. The confirmation took just a moment, and I knew that my break cue's joint pin thread was the standard version. Ok, so this experience allowed me to confidently order one of Rhino's carbon shafts with the matching thread and quite likely avoid an extensive repeat of all the above. If I had ordered a shaft outright (the above steps would have been extremely irritating). Now, I can order my desired (and correct) break shaft, enjoying all of its benefits compared to the original fiberglass composite shaft. In retrospect and having known about this oddity with the 5/16-14 pin, I could have chosen a different break cue having an alternate pin thread. On the other hand, it was a learning experience.
