May seem expensive for a simple rigid tube, but definitely worth it for the peace of mind. I used only the rear one for protecting the stays in a soft bike case, since the fork was already protected in a different way by the case. Nice that they include extenders for boost wheels.

the rear protector was slightly larger diameter than the dropout slot. Also, instructions would have been welcome- I figured out on my return trip that I could thread my thru-axles through the center of the protectors.

Simplicity. The Dropout Protectors fit in the wheel hub slots, the thru-axels go through and screw in, and I’m no longer worried about the fork or rear stays getting crushed together when the bike is on the plane.
I have been searching for a solution for this, and while a 12-15mm converter I bought worked for the front, I couldn’t find one for the rear, so I was very happy when I saw the Dropout Protectors were available, especially since there’re only a few dollars more than the front-only 12-15mm converter. And while the Orucase page on "How to MacGyver a Dropout Protector” is good, I wanted more than cardboard protecting the rear stays.
