Simplicity. The Dropout Protectors fit in the wheel hub slots, the thru-axels go through and screw in, and I’m no longer worried about the fork or rear stays getting crushed together when the bike is on the plane. I have been searching for a solution for this, and while a 12-15mm converter I bought worked for the front, I couldn’t find one for the rear, so I was very happy when I saw the Dropout Protectors were available, especially since there’re only a few dollars more than the front-only 12-15mm converter. And while the Orucase page on "How to MacGyver a Dropout Protector” is good, I wanted more than cardboard protecting the rear stays.

The new dropout protectors are great! I now feel confident that my front and rear dropouts will be safe when being tossed from plane to plane. It is a much better idea than relying old cardboard tubes that have seen better days.

Actually no idea if they work, it’ll be awhile before I travel and can try them. But they are exactly what everybody needs for air trips!
